A grant for the Live Healthy Red Wing initiatives was awarded by the YMCA of the USA and financed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and other foundations and corporate donors. The grant is part of the national YMCA’s Pioneering Healthy Communities program, whose ultimate goal is to lower the rates of obesity and resulting health problems in cities across the country.
Six Minnesota communities have received funds from this grant program since its inception in 2004: Itasca County, Marshall, Fargo/Moorhead, Albert Lea, Duluth, and Red Wing.
